Episode 38: Moxie by Proxy-Pamela Hogan on Iceland's Women's Day Off
"In her latest documentary, The Day Iceland Stood Still, Pamela, and her collaborator, acclaimed Icelandic filmmaker Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir, take us back to October 24, 1975, and the months leading up to that historic moment when 90 percent of Iceland’s women took the “day off,” bringing the country to a standstill and catapulting Iceland to the world’s superpower of gender equality."

영화는 분명 분노할 만한 성차별을 다루는데 영화도, 출연하는 인터뷰이들도 모두 유쾌했다. 유쾌를 넘어 통쾌했다. 이 덕분인지 여성 영화제라는 특성 덕인지 관객들이 눈치보지 않으며 화내고 통쾌해하고 띠꺼워하고 응원하고 감탄하는게 느껴져 오랜만에 군중 속에서 자유했다.

"The movie was all about that sexist BS, but the both film and interviewee were so freakin' hilarious and satisfying!
And because it was a women's film festival, everyone felt so free to be angry, excited, and supportive. It was like a breath of fresh air."
